I was behind the scenes setting up something new for my newsletter, Inside The Misunderstood Mind—and I somehow told Substack to email you about the Chat before I had even explained it to you.
So, let me explain.
I’ve just opened paid subscriptions for readers who would like to come further inside my work as I prepare to release The Misunderstood Mind: What We Got Wrong about Autism, ADHD, and Neurodivergence.
Free subscriptions aren’t going anywhere. You’ll continue to receive selected articles, publication updates, and opportunities to be part of the larger conversation.
But if you want more behind-the-scenes access, I’ve got a few options for you.
Option 1: Basic paid subscription: $7.99 monthly or $85 annually

Videos from my audiobook recording sessions—with bonus commentary from yours truly—leading up to its December 8, 2026 release

This is the less-polished side of the finished articles, books, podcasts, and videos: the ideas I’m still developing, the questions I’m considering, and the occasional chaos involved in bringing all of it together.
Option 2: Impact Team membership: $129 annually
If you would like to contribute more toward publishing and marketing the book, you may choose a higher annual amount at checkout.
Substack will identify this as the “Founding Member” option at checkout, but I’m calling it the Impact Team because I want to ask you to help me get this book into the world.
As an Impact Team member, you will receive everything included with a paid subscription, along with:
a signed hardcover or paperback copy of The Misunderstood Mind
I’ll cover standard U.S. shipping. If you’re outside the U.S., I’ll apply that amount toward your shipping and contact you about any additional postage before mailing your book.

For me, this book release is bigger than simply “Hey, I wrote a book.” It’s about challenging outdated assumptions and bringing a more accurate, affirming, and nuanced understanding of neurodivergence into the world.
Impact Team members are invited to participate actively in private Chats and LIVE brainstorming sessions about how we can help the book reach more people—through libraries and bookstores, online and local communities, and the friends, family members, and professionals who need its message.
Participation is never required. You may want to join those conversations, or you may simply want to help make the launch successful.
All subscription revenue will help cover the very real costs of publishing and marketing the book—including production, audiobook development, publicity, advertising, distribution, and getting it into the hands of reviewers, professionals, libraries, and others who can help its message travel further.
